    2. Ericsson CTO Hakan Eriksson to step down from post

      Eriksson Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) CTO Hakan Eriksson will step down from his current position in February to become the head of Ericsson's business in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. The company did not announce a replacement for Eriksson, who has been the Swedish vendor's CTO since 2003, but said it expects to name his replacement early next year. "The process is ongoing and we expect it to be closed before Feb. 1," when Eriksson starts his new job, Ericsson spokesman Ola Rembe told Bloomberg. In addition to being a forceful advocate for LTE and Ericsson's vision of putting mobile broadband into more and more devices, Eriksson has also led the company's Silicon Valley unit since November 2009. A 25-year company veteran, Eriksson's wife is from Australia, and he said in a statement that he wants to "move into a more commercial role, and for personal reasons to come closer to Australia."
