New bill would require consumers be notified of any Carrier IQ-like software on their devices

There was a bit of a brouhaha that erupted late last year over Carrier IQ and the information collected by its cell phone tracking software. The noise surrounding Carrier IQ has died down a bit as of late as more information about the software comes out and some companies remove it from their products, but a new bill has been introduced to the House of Representatives in an attempt to prevent a similar situation from cropping up again.
